KANPUR: A total of 2276 voters chose the None of The Above ( NOTA) option in the Kanpur Lok Sabha seat, which saw competition between BJP's Murli Manohar Joshi and Congress's Sriprakash Jaiswal.

2,276 voters out rightly rejected 21 candidates in the constituency while exercising their franchise in the 16th Lok Sabha polls.

BJP veteran Murli Manohar Joshi won from the Kanpur Parliamentary constituency, defeating Union coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal by 2,22,946 votes in the results declared yesterday.

Also, in the Akbarpur seat of Kanpur (Rural), 3,941 NOTA votes were polled. BJP's Devendra Singh stood victorious from the constituency.

The NOTA choice was also visible in the assembly elections where significant NOTA votes were cast in seats like Govindnagar (591), Sisamu (331), Aryanagar (346), Kidwainagar (621), Cantt (387) in Kanpur and Raniya (652), Ghatampur (756), Kalyanpur (797), and Bithur (739) in Akbarpur.
