In an emotional and stinging attack on Uddhav Thackeray, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday said Thackeray was an 'insecure' party chief who was not capable of being a CM.

"Balasaheb Thackeray did not form a private limited company. Unlike Balasaheb, who created leaders, you treated us like servants and slaves, and you pit leaders against each other," said Shinde at the Shiv Sena's foundation day event at Goregaon.

Shinde added, " He (Uddhav) didn't want a mass leader and believed in 'darbari' politics." The CM spoke of how several party leaders had sacrificed for the party unlike Uddhav. "I lost my mother during my election campaign, and there were several rallies scheduled, I could not tell the person calling me that my mother was no more, "said Shinde becoming emotional.

A few minutes before Shinde's speech, Uddhav Thackeray addressed party workers at Matunga where he mainly attacked the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"A former Lt General has spoken about the conditions in Manipur and has compared it to Libya and Syria... Everyone knows what happened to the dictator Gaddafi in Libya, where he had to hide in a gutter from the people,"said Uddhav. He again questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not visited Manipur yet. Uddhav also claimed that he was not concerned with people quitting the party and joining the Shinde faction, saying the common people knew that the latter had betrayed the ideals of Balasaheb Thackeray.

Shinde claimed it was Uddhav who had betrayed the Sena founder's ideals when he joined hands with the Congress and NCP. "You betrayed Balasaheb's and the mandate of the people by forming a government with the Congress and NCP after contesting in an alliance with the BJP," said Shinde.
