Eight wanted naxals surrender

RAIPUR: Eight naxals, including a deputy commander, carrying cash rewards on each of them surrendered in insurgency-hit Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, police said today.

The eight cadres turned themselves in last evening citing disappointment over high-handedness of senior cadres and exploitation of women and lower rank rebels, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Narayanpur OP Sharma said.

Of the surrendered, Raidhar Karanga (28) was one of the dreaded deputy commander rank cadre who was active in Rowghat region and was involved in Koyalibeda ambush leaving three police personnel dead in 2008-09, Sharma added.

He was associated with the movement of outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoists) since 2006 and carrying a cash reward of Rs three lakh on his head.

The others who surrendered were Sunil alias Singal alias Banda (24), Sayatram alias Guddu Salam (22), Rajju Korram (24), Rupram Korram (23), Mainuram (22) Motiram Korram (21) and Rainu Nureti (25), he said.

Militia commander of Maraskol village in Narayanpur Tehsil, Sunil, and the head of the Kiskod Jantana Sarkar, Rainu Nureti, were carrying a reward of Rs one lakh each on their heads, he said.

Cash reward of Rs 3,000 was announced on rest of the surrendered cadres, the ASP said.
