Eight killed as goods train rams into passenger train

Ten passengers were killed and 20 others injured when a goods train rammed into the stationary Indore-Gwalior Inter-City express at Badarwas railway station in the district amid heavy rains in the wee hours today.

SHIVPURI ( MP): Eight passengers were killed and 50 others injured when a goods train rammed into the stationary Indore-Gwalior Inter-City express at Badarwas railway station in the district amid heavy rains in the wee hours today.

According to PTI, Railway officials said eight persons have been killed and many of the injured were in a serious condition after the passenger train was hit by the goods train from the front.

Initial reports suggest that atleast 10 passengers were killed and more than 20 injured on Monday when Gwalior-Intercity train collided with a goods train at Badrawas in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh.

However, Superintendent of Police, Shivpuri, Rajendra Prasad put the toll at six.

He said six bodies had been taken out from the two general bogies of the express that was hit by the goods train.

The SP said that the two bogies that were hit by the goods train were general compartments.

Railway officials said the collision took place around 4:45 AM when it was raining heavily.

Heavy rainfall in the area is hampering rescue operations.
