Operations to start from November 29
Touted as the biggest metro rail project in the country taken up in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode, the Hyderabad Metro Rail service has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 28. Commercial operations will begin from November 29 at 6 am from Nagole station.

Covering major commercial hubs
The 30 km-long first phase of the metro rail project between Miyapur and Nagole has 24 stations and covers several busy clusters and city landmarks, including the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Osmania University, Secunderabad Railway Station and major commercial hubs like Begumpet and Ameerpet.

End-to-end connectivity
During the initial days, spillover of passengers onto the roads will be a major concern. So another key feature will be the integration with other modes of transport like buses, taxis, auto-rickshaws and even bicycles to ensure end-to-end connectivity.

Feeder services
The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will run feeder services from and to Metro stations. To begin with, 50 feeder buses would be operated from select Metro stations and also residential colonies connecting them to the IT corridor.

Others phases to open by next year end
All three corridors of the Hyderabad Metro Rail will become operational by December 2018. June 2018 is the deadline for completion of the Hi-Tec City Corridor and the LB Nagar to Ameerpet stretch.

World's best project in PPP mode
Hyderabad Metro is the world's best project in the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode. The Bangkok Metro was also conceived in the PPP mode, but that is only 32-km long compared to the 72-km Hyderabad Metro, Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director NVS Reddy said.

Via the largest Metro station in the country
Among the 24 stations along the route, Ameerpet interchange station is claimed to be an engineering marvel and the largest Metro station in the country spread over two lakh square feet.

About smart cards
Metro Smart Card sales are now confined to only four metro stations, Nagole, Tarnaka, Prakashnagar and SR Nagar. From November 29, the cards would be available at all the 24 Metro stations on the Miyapur-Nagole route.
