An express train collided with a goods train in central India early on Monday, leaving eight dead, television reports said.

NEW DELHI: An express train collided with a goods train in central India early on Monday, leaving eight dead, television reports said.

The NDTV news channel said the crash happened at Badarwas station in Shivpuri district in the central state of Madhya Pradesh. It quoted the district magistrate as saying eight people had died and that a rescue team has been rushed to the spot.

The accident occurred about 5:00 am local time (2330 GMT Sunday), it said.
