Eight arrested for capital's violence
Delhi Police on Wednesday imposed section 144 in Delhi's Seelampur where anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protesters had indulged in arson and violence on Tuesday.

Police and paramilitary personnel also carried out a flag march in the area.
No fresh incidents of violence were reported from West Bengal, and Assam also remained calm though protests continued, a home ministry official said on Wednesday. In Madras University, a section of students continued their protests for the third day and were supported by Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan, who came to the campus to express his solidarity. However, he was not allowed to enter the campus and spoke to the agitating students from behind the main gate of the university.
Meanwhile, the Left parties have announced that they will hold a nationwide protest against the Act as well as NRC on Thursday, with CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury issuing a statement on behalf the CPI(ML)-Liberation, CPI, AIFB and RSP and asking all district committees in all states to mobilise workers to protest against what they dubbed as the 'unconstitutional moves' of the government.
In Chennai, DMK and its allies demanded that the Centre should immediately rescind the Act and slammed the proposed nationwide NRC as 'antithetical' to the Constitution.
