NEW DELHI: All efforts would be made to strengthen the bilateral relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and Communist Party of India (CPI) and take the relations down to the mass organisations level, Vietnam Ambassador to India Ton Sinh Thani today said.

Thani met top CPI leaders including party general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy and National Council Secretary Amarjeet at the CPI headquarters here today where the CPI leaders assured developing deeper people-to-people relations with each other.

"Ambassador of the Social Republic of Vietnam Ton Sinh Thani said that all efforts will be made to strengthen further the bilateral relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Communist Party of India and take the relations down to the mass organisations level," a CPI statement here said.

CPI said that the envoy also sought support and help of the party for the success of the 125 birth anniversary celebrations of Ho Chi Minh next year, in which connection an essay competition will be held for Indians. Winners across various categories would get a free trip to Vietnam.

The anniversary of Ho Chi Minh falls on May 19. Welcoming the ambassador, Reddy said Vietnam, leaders and people have always been a source of great inspiration for India and her people in general and the CPI and the left movement in particular.

"Not only the present and past generations got influenced by great Ho Chi Minh, the CPV and the Vietnamese people, even future generations will continue to draw inspiration from them," Reddy said.

Reddy also assured the Ambassador of all help in all endeavours to develop deeper people to people relations.

"We are planning to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the unification of Vietnam. He hoped that the coming XXII Party Congress at Puducherry would take a final decision in this regard and will decide to make it a national programme with the participation of all left and peace loving forces of our country," Reddy said.
