NEW DELHI: As legal views were being elicited on the Supreme Court order, Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh on Friday said efforts would be made to vacate the stay on 27 per cent OBC quota in elite central educational institutions.

"Efforts will be made to vacate the stay (imposed by the apex court)," he told reporters here when asked to comment on yesterday's Supreme Court order.

Singh said the Government would furnish all relevant materials sought by the court in this regard.

In a severe setback to pro-reservationists, the apex court yesterday stayed the controversial provision in the law enabling 27 per cent quota for Backward Classes in elite central educational institutions like IITs, AIIMS and IIMs from the 2007 academic session.
