MACHILIPATNAM: Union Minister for Textiles Kavuri Sambasiva Rao said here today that he has been making efforts to ensure that the Bhadrachalam division remains with the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh after a separate state of Telangana is formed.

The minister was speaking after laying the foundation stone for a community hall and inaugurating roads at Gopavaram and Velupucherla villages of the Musunur zone in Krishna district.

He said that he is a "strong" votary of united "Samaikhyandhra" and fully supported legislative members' decision to submit an affidavit to the President of India seeking a "united" state of Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that nearly Rs 5 crore would be allotted to the Nuzvid assembly segment to construct new roads.

He also said that the Polavaram project would get national status.
