Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday wrote on X that “one’s efforts may fail, but not prayers,” sparking a political buzz as the cryptic post came after his brief one-on-one meeting with AICC leader Rahul Gandhi at the Mysuru airport on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah too met Gandhi separately at the same venue, though both him and Shivakumar flew together to Mysuru on Tuesday to receive and send off their leader who flew down from Delhi to attend an event at Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu.

The Dy CM, in a chat with the media on Wednesday, said he did not wish to openly discuss the brief talk he had had with the AICC leader. The Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha recognized their good work in Karnataka and asked him to continue, he said, and added that his brief discussion also covered the developments in the State BJP.

On the message he wished to convey through his post, Shivakumar claimed he was not saying anything new, and shared the same at a recent event with Vokkaliga entrepreneurs.

He said he would visit Delhi on January 16.

In November, Shivakumar posted a similar cryptic message targeting the Congress leadership as well as the CM, stressing the importance of keeping a promise. “The biggest force in the world was to keep one’s word. Be it a judge, president or anyone else including myself, everyone has to walk the talk. Word power is world power,” he had written inviting a repartee from Siddaramaiah that “a word is not power unless it betters the World for the people.”

With Siddaramaiah completing half his term, Shivakumar, who is also the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), has been taking an aim at the CM’s post.
