ED has started an inquiry in connection with the seizure of over Rs 20 crore from an engineer’s house in Howrah, a couple of days back.

On Saturday, responding to a complaint, the anti corruption branch conducted a raid at the residence of Pranab Adhikari, sub assistant engineer of Bally Municipality in Howrah district and unearth around Rs 20 crore cash from the ‘middle class’ residence of the government employee.
It was learnt that ED has already written to Ramphal Pawar, ADG, Anti Corruption Branch asking for the copies of the FIR, seizure lists and the statements of the accused person, Pranab Adhikari. Adhikari is now in the custody of the ACB.
The sources in ED further added that the accused person was running a transport company on his wife’s name outside the state. The sources in the directorate further added that Adhikari might have a link with a hawala racket.
The directorate would investigate into the money trail of the cash seizure while the ACB is investigating into the crime.
