Srinagar | Delhi: Two days after he was quizzed for nearly six hours, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday summoned former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah once again for questioning in connection with the alleged siphoning off of funds given by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, when he was its president.

Abdullah was questioned for four hours on Wednesday. He refrained from interacting with journalists after the questioning. Sources in the federal agency said Abdullah needed to be asked more questions regarding the “evidence” gathered.

Abdullah was questioned by ED sleuths on Monday at its Rajbagh office in Srinagar. The agency had also quizzed him in July last year in Chandigarh. Abdullah’s statement will be recorded again under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Abdullah’s son Omar Abdullah tweeted about the fresh questioning saying: “This on a day when my father turns 84.”

The National Conference passed a resolution strongly condemning the vindictive and coercive action against Abdullah, who is the party president and Lok Sabha member from Srinagar. “We stand fully with our leader and his unity mission in J&K. Our resolve to fight for the rights of people of J&K is undeterred by such action,” the resolution read.
