Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has come to stand for 'Examination in Democracy' -- an examination that every opposition has to pass. Yadav tweeted to express solidarity with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi who has been questioned by the central agency for three days in a row in the National Herald case in which Rahul and Sonia Gandhi have allegedly been accused of misappropriating assets.

"The meaning of ED has now come to be Examination in Democracy and in politics, opposition is required to pass this examination. This examination is announced when the government itself has failed (on delivering at various fronts). Those who are well prepared are not afraid of either the written examination or the verbal one and neither should they ever be afraid," Yadav said in a tweet.

Yadav's tweet came on a day when the Delhi police barged into the Congress headquarters and beat up leaders. As backlash from the party against the action intensified, in Lucknow, senior UP Congress leader Nasimuddin Siddiqui said the Governor's House will be gheroad on Thursday.
