ED interrogates former Bengal Minister Paresh Adhikari, daughter Ankita Adhikari in school jobs scam case

Former Minister of State (MoS) Paresh Adhikari and his daughter Ankita Adhikari were interrogated for more than six hours by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday in connection with West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment scam.

The father-daughter duo reached the ED office at CGO complex in Saltlake on Friday morning. The interrogation continued till evening. Paresh Adhikari was also questioned last week.

Adhikari, who had earlier been grilled by the CBI in the same case, was questioned at the CGO complex of the ED office in Kolkata to face questioning.


The former Minister of State (MoS) for education Paresh Adhikari was facing allegations of taking illegal means to get her daughter Ankita appointed as a teacher in a state-run school in Cooch Behar district.

The Calcutta High Court had earlier this year dismissed Ankita from job and asked her to return the salary she had drawn as a teacher since 2018. In her post, another eligible candidate, Babita Sarkar, has been appointed.

In August, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, during a cabinet reshuffle, had dropped Adhikari from her ministry. Another former minister for Education Partha Chatterjee has been arrested along with his close aide Arpita Mukherjee and are presently in jail custody.
