Economic Survey to wait, LS adjourned

The opposition demanded resignation of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh over the Quattrocchi issue.

NEW DELHI: It was a repetition of what happened in Lok Sabha on Monday. This morning, the entire opposition led by the BJP and NDA leadership stalled the proceedings of the house with sloganeering and pandemonium prevailed in the house immediately after it assembled at 11 AM. The opposition demanded resignation of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh over the Quattrocchi issue.

While the Speaker Somnath Chatterjee adjourned the house in less than ten minutes, the NDA leadership has decided to keep the pressure on the Government over the ‘Q’ imbroglio. This may delay the presentation of annual Economic Survey to be laid on table of house by Finance Minister P.Chidambaram originally scheduled at 12 noon.

Amidst furore, the opposition benches asked the Congress as to why the Quattrocchi's case was misrepresented in the London courts. On the other hand, the Congress MPs questioned as to why the NDA government did not take any action during their tenure.

The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is scheduled to make a suo moto statement in both Houses of Parliament on the Bofors issue, arrest of Quattrocchi and his release in Argentina before the CBI could interrogate him.
