EC tightens timeline for publishing candidates’ criminal records

New Delhi: Ahead of the Bihar elections, EC has issued fresh guidelines with tighter timelines for publishing the criminal antecedents of all candidates in the fray. All candidates are now to ‘advertise’ the criminal antecedents in the media thrice. First: within first four days of last date of withdrawal, second: within 5th to 8th days of last date of withdrawal and third: from 9th day till the last day of campaign, i.e. two days prior to date of poll.
