JAIPUR: The Election Commission has formed a joint cell with police, including Anti-Terrorist Squad, to check objectionable SMSes during electioneering for December one assembly polls in Rajasthan.

The Chief Election Office, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Rajasthan police department have formed the cell to deal with the complaints regarding objectionable SMSes during assembly poll campaign, a police spokesman said.

Any complaint can be lodged in person or by forwarding the message to :08082000222 and SMSINFO.

Violation of model code of conduct, Representation of People Act and other laws, threat or luring voters on account of religion or caste through SMSes or any other means would be dealt seriously and is punishable, nodal officer Alok Tripathi said.
