EC seeks to curb illegal cash transportation in ambulances

Acting on complaints of alleged transportation of cash ahead of Tamil Nadu polls, EC has directed vehicle operators to inform respective District Election Office about their movement.

DINDIGUL: Acting on complaints of alleged transportation of cash in ambulances to be distributed to voters in the April 13 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, Election Commission has directed the vehicle operators to inform respective District Election Office about their movement.

The EC has directed operators of both '108 emergency service' vehicles and private ambulances to inform about their destination before they pick up patients or when they are en route to the place, officials said.

The EC had received several complaints about cash being transported illegally using ambulances, they said.
