EC seeks report from dist admin on Salman Khurshid's poll code violation

FARUKKHABAD: The EC has sought a report from the Farukkhabad district administration on the alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct by Union Minister Salman Khurshid.

Additional District Magistrate Prabhunath said the Election Commision has also sought a report on a complaint by the minister's wife Louise Khurshid who had alleged that the administration and police officials publicly touched SP candidate Rameshwar Singh's feet.

The ADM said a case of violation of the Model Code of Conduct was lodged against the minister on March 24. The EC has sought the details about the matter.

An FIR was registered against Khurshid and his two supporters after a vehicle, loaded with solar lights and some other equipments purportedly meant for distribution among villagers was caught.

During questioning, driver of the vehicle had told police that he had brought the equipments from the cold storage of Khurshid, who is also Congress candidate from the seat.
