EC rubbishes Rahul Gandhi's vote chori accusations
The Election Commission of India refuted Rahul Gandhi's accusations regarding vote chori (vote theft) that he made at a keenly-watched press conference on September 18.
Allegations made by Shri Rahul Gandhi are incorrect and baseless, the EC said in an X post.
"No deletion of any vote can be done online by any member of the public, as misconceived by Gandhi," the post read.
The EC made it clear that no deletion can take place without giving an opportunity of being heard to the affected person.
In the presser, Rahul Gandhi made accusations that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was "protecting vote chors" and that he was fully aware the fraud involved in deleting/adding fake voters.
According to the Congress leader's statement, at least 6 thousand votes have been deleted in the Aland Assembly constituency segment in Karnataka.
In an earlier presser, Gandhi had alleged similar fraud occurring in Mahadevpura (also in Karnataka).
In Aland, Gandhi said, around 6 thousand votes were deleted fraudulently by unknown people "who used software and impersonated real voters".
