Following a Congress complaint, the Election Commission on Friday ordered a full review of the alleged changes made to the electoral rolls in three Assembly seats - Shivajinagar, Chickpet & Mahadevapura- in Karnataka.

The EC also extended the period of claims & objections under Special Summary Revision by 15 days till December 24, 2022 and went on to suspend Additional district election officials BBMP (Central) & Bengaluru Urban incharge of the three constituencies.

A departmental enquiry is set to be instituted against the two and special officers from outside the BBMP will be appointed for overseeing the 'purity of electoral rolls'.


The EC has also directed all officials to share all changes made to the rolls with the parties so as to enable them to file claims and objections.
