Earthquake: 25 dead, 133 injured in Bihar
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar told reporters that seven persons died in East Champaran district, while six others lost their lives in Sitamarhi, both sharing borders with Nepal, the epicentre of the quake.

Tremors were felt in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and New Delhi. The maximum damage was Bihar adjoining the Nepal border where 25 persons were killed and about 50 injured. Six persons were killed in Uttar Pradesh. In West Bengal, three were killed and at least 69, including 43 schoolchildren, were injured. Prominent highrises suffered extensive damage in the state.
PM Narendra Modi spoke to chief ministers of the different states and deputed Rajiv Pratap Rudy to take stock of the situation. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted: “We are monitoring the situation closely in Bengal especially in Darjeeling and Siliguri. We have spoken to senior disaster management team and others.”
Four teams of NDRF have been rushed to Bihar, which witnessed maximum devastation in India.
