DU second cutoff: BCom, Economics open in many colleges

While the first cutoff list in Delhi University came as a shocker, the second list will seem like a ray of hope for many.

NEW DELHI: While the first cutoff list in Delhi University came as a shocker, the second list will seem like a ray of hope for many.

Admission in popular courses like BCom, Economics, English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is still open in colleges such as Kirori Mal, Sri Venkateswara and Lady Shri Ram, and cutoffs in certain cases are down by 5% to 10%.

Admission to BCom (H) is open in Kirori Mal, Hans Raj, LSR, SGTB Khalsa, Sri Venkateswara, Gargi, Indraprastha College and 37 other colleges.

While KMC and Venkateswara have decreased the cutoff by 1.5%, LSR has dropped it by 1.25% and Khalsa by 1%. Admissions in SRCC, however, have been closed for general students.

"The dip in the second list was crucial as we didn't admit any aspirants in BCom (H) in the first list. We didn't want a flood of students as we have limited seats. We also didn't have a clue about how many candidates may become eligible at a certain cutoff," said KMC principal Bhim Sen Singh.
