DU professor Saibaba sentenced to life for Maoists links
NEW DELHI: Delhi University professor GN Saibaba was today sentenced to life by a Gadchiroli session court under Unlawful Activities prevention Act (UAPA).

Jawahar Lal Nehru University student Hem Mishra, former journalist Prashant Rahi and three others have also been convicted along with Saibaba for having Maoist links by the court.

They have been found guilty under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act dealing with conspiracy, being a member of terrorist gang or organisation and offences relating to support given to a terrorist organization


The English professor at Ram Lal Anand college of Delhi University was arrested by Gadchiroli police in May 2014 from his official residence in Delhi university for having alleged links with the banned CPI (Maoist) and plotting against India.

Saibaba was suspended from the university following his arrest.
