DU poll: 3 more candidates get notices for code "violation"

The development comes a day after eight main candidates --all from ABVP and NSUI -- were issued notices on the same ground.

NEW DELHI: Delhi University's election authority today slapped showcause notices to another three student-candidates for allegedly violating the code of conduct of polls by using printed material for canvassing.

The development comes a day after eight main candidates --all from ABVP and NSUI -- were issued notices on the same ground.

Chief Election Officer of the University, Prof Chandra Shekhar Dubey, today sent notices to presidential candidates Anjela Kishore and Neha Bhardwaj and Abhishek Pandey, who is contesting for the post of Joint Secretary.

While Neha and Abhishek are contesting under the banner of National Students Congress (NSC), Anjela is a candidate of the Ambedkar Missionaries Vidyarthi Association (AMVA).

Meanwhile, the eight candidates of ABVP and NSUI, who were issued showcause notices yesterday, filed their responses, arguing that they were not responsible for the posters circulated in their names and were not aware of who did it.

Today's move takes to 11 the number of candidates who have been asked to explain why they were "flouting" norms.
