Dry day declared in three Parliamentary constituencies going to polls in 2nd phase
Dry day has been declared for 3 constituencies -Karimganj, Silchar and Autonomous Hill Districts-- going to polls in the second phase on April 12.

During this period, possession of intoxicates by any person or persons and sale, distribution of spirituous, fermented or intoxicating liquors or other alike substances at any hotel, eating house, tavern, shop or any other public or private place have been banned within Karimganj, Silchar and Autonomous District constituencies.
During the dry days, all bonded warehouses, IMFL Retail off and on shops including club, hotel and country spirit shops will also remain closed. Restrictions provided in Excise law on the storage of liquor in unlicensed premises will be enforced strictly during the period.
Steps will also be taken to prohibit sale of liquor in adjoining areas of the constituencies concerned to avoid the chances of clandestine movement of liquor from these areas where the restriction has not been in operation. Any violation of this order will be dealt with under the relevant provision of Assam Excise Act and Rules, the release added.
