Drought makes government’s 2nd anniversary a low-key event

NEW DELHI: Desh Badal Raha Hai, Aage Badh Raha Hai — this could be the likely theme of the second anniversary of the Narendra Modi Government even as the celebrations are expected to be low-key given the drought situation in the country.

The above-mentioned theme could feature on the achievement booklets to be brought out by most ministries individually as well this time since the government wants to focus on all its ‘micro achievements’ and success stories of farmers and the middle-class population which has benefitted from the various schemes. All party MPs will also be asked topropagate the message in their constituencies.

Saal ek, Shuruat Anekwas the slogan on the first anniversary of the Modi government. “The theme this time is expected to signify that the country is changing and moving ahead under the present government and base it on success stories,” a government official told ET.

The celebrations around the May 26 anniversary are, however, expected to be low-key given the drought situation in the country and model code of conduct being in place till May 19 when counting for the four assembly elections takes place. Ministers are expected to hold their press conferences in Delhi and regional centers post May 19, a government official said.
