LUCKNOW: Congress today demanded that UP Cabinet ministers, who face lokayukta probe in alleged graft cases against them, be dropped so that the investigation is not affected.

"The chief minister should drop the ministers who face charges of corruption and a lokayukta probe into them," Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman Ashok Singh said.

A complaint against state mining minister and SP MLA Gayatri Prasad Prajapati has been filed with the state lokayukta for allegedly misusing his office and amassing assets worth several crores.

Secondary Education Minister Mehboob Ali is facing a probe for alleged irregularities in fixation of examination centers and granting affiliation in the complaint.

"Continuing them as minister would affect free and fair inquiry as is evident in Prajapati's case, where the plaintiff has now decided to withdraw his complaint under pressure," Singh said.

"The chief minister needs to drop these ministers if he wants to save the sagging image of his government and the party," Singh added.
