Drinking Water Crisis in Mumbai-Karnataka region: Water from Koyna to flow into Karnataka in two days, says Kumaraswamy
Karnataka had requested Maharashtra to release water from its Koyna or Warna reservoirs to meet the drinking water needs of Belagavi, Vijayapura and Bagalkot districts.

Karnataka had requested Maharashtra to release water from its Koyna or Warna reservoirs to meet the drinking water needs of Belagavi, Vijayapura and Bagalkot districts. The neighbouring state has also requested Karnataka to release water from Almatti reservoir to meet its the drinking water needs, too, across the border.
Kumaraswamy, in a tweet said, the Maharashtra Chief Secretary has sent an official communication to his Karnataka counterpart on the release of water.
On Friday, a delegation of BJP MLAs and MPs from North Karnataka had met Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and sought his intervention to deal with the drinking water crisis in parts of Karnataka. Water Resources Minister D.K.Shivakumar too had been pursuing the request with Maharashtra.
