"Nine tonnes of Ready-to-Eat (RTE) packaged foods appealing to the local tastes was prepared and packed on warfooting at Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL) Mysore, which prepares such meals for the armed forces," a DRDO release said.

"The food includes hygienically packed, long shelf life RTE food that includes chapattis, vegetable pulav, tomato rice, lemon rice, zeera rice, Bengal gram, dal fry, khichry and suji halwa," it said.

DRDO chief Avinash Chander said the technologies developed by the defence research agency would always be made available to the people of the country in the hour of need.
