PUDUCHERRY: Former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam would inaugurate the 17th National Convention on knowledge, Library and Information networking here on December nine.

The three-day programme is organised jointly by Delhi based Developing Library Network (DELNET) and the French Institute of Puducherry.

Addressing reporters here today Director of DELNET Dr H K Kaul said DELNET networks more than 5,000 libraries in the country and abroad and also holds such conventions annually at various institutions and universities in the country.

He said that around 600 public libraries in the country would be developed into model libraries as per the plan of the National Mission on Libraries.

Dr Sangeeta Kaul, the Network Manager in DELNET and co-organising secretary of the forthcoming convention here said experts from India, USA, France and Australia would be key speakers at the convention. Around 350 delegates from different parts of India would participate in the programme.
