DP demands CBI probe in human trafficking racket

In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, TDP President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu demanded setting up a special court to try the cases invovling smuggling out people abroad using fake passports and travel documents.

Hyderabad: The main Oppostion TDP in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday demanded a CBI probe into the human trafficking racket in the wake of allegations of involvement of politicians in the scam.

In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, TDP President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu demanded setting up a special court to try the cases invovling smuggling out people abroad using fake passports and travel documents.

"Hyderabad has become a haven for criminals because of the failure of the state government in curbing such activities," Naidu said.

The immigration racket has caused embarrassment to Naidu's party in the wake of revelations made by the alleged scam kingpin Rasheed during interrogation, suggesting involvement of former party MP Sugunakumari and ex-TDP minister N Kishtappa.

Along with Rasheed, his associate and former TDP city corporator Muzaffar Ali has been arrested in the scam and is now in judicial custody.
