KOLKATA: The telecom department ( DoT) may install jammers along India’s international border to block mobile phone signals from neighbouring countries as a counter-terrorism move.

The first set of jammers are proposed along the India-Pakistan border, even as the foreign ministry is likely to address the issue of cellphone, signaling a spillover along India's borders with its neighbouring countries through diplomatic channels, say the minutes of an inter-minis terial monitoring group meeting seen by ET.

India is keen to control any potential cross-border spillover of cellphone signals to eliminate unauthorised access to mobile networks in countries such as Pakistan, as spillover can facilitate communications between terrorists.
