Don't promote donkeys of Gujarat, Akhilesh tells Amitabh

NEW DELHI: The political rhetoric touched a new low in poll-bound Uttar Pardesh with Samajwadi Party chief and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav talking of 'donkeys of Gujarat' at an election rally in Raebareli.

Akhilesh took on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a Gujarat Tourism advertisement in which Amitabh Bachchan promotes wild donkeys of Gujarat.

"There is an advertisement on donkeys. I will ask the biggest superstar of this century [Amitabh Bachchan] not to promote the donkeys of Gujarat," Akhilesh said.

Bachchan's TV ad, which is about Wild Ass Wildlife Sanctuary located in the Little Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, aims at attracting tourists.

Akhilesh was probably responding to PM Modi who had recently accused him of wasting public money on advertisements.
