Don't give into campaign to scrap Karnataka Rajya Sabha polls: Congress to poll panel
NEW DELHI: A Congress delegation led by Digvijaya Singh met the EC and urged it not to give into the BJP campaign for countermanding this week’s RS polls over alleged money play. The Congress delegation, in the wake of ‘sting videos’ claiming some MLAs had admitted the role of money in the poll, insisted the EC must ensure free and fair polls in Karnataka and argued that the Karnataka case cannot be compared with Jharkhand, where the EC countermanded RS polls.

Congress leaders alleged the campaign for countermanding RS polls in Karnataka was part of a plot to deny the party from winning 2-3 seats. Singh said while the Jharkhand RS poll was countermanded in 2012 after a candidate was caught with money, nothing of the nature had happened in Karnataka that warranted countermanding of polls. “The elections should not be countermanded,” Singh said.
