Don't do politics, file FIR: BJP to Opposition leaders on Apple's alert

The BJP on Tuesday rejected as 'baseless and false' opposition leaders' allegations against the government following Apple's alert, and said it is for the mobile company to explain the issue.

Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said: "Apple will clarify on this but if they (Opposition leaders) have a problem, let them file an FIR and lodge their protest with Apple. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had alleged that there is Pegasus (virus) in his mobile but when the Supreme Court asked him to deposit his phone for scrutiny he refused to do it."

"The charges that government is involved are totally baseless and false," the former IT minister stated, adding that usually such matters are referred to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In).


BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said Apple has made it clear that these alerts are often "false alarms".

"It should be asked why Rahul Gandhi and others don't follow the legal process. They don't file a police complaint or write to Apple company but do politics. We too have spoken to cyber experts - there are a few countries that have enmity against India and are experts in spying of this kind," he said.
