Mumbai: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Friday said the party does not consider Shinde as a chief minister belonging to it.

"They (BJP) backstabbed us and now they are saying Shinde is the Shiv Sena chief minister. Well, I don't consider him as the Shiv Sena chief minister. The most important point is that you can't sideline the Shiv Sena and claim you have made a Shiv Sena chief minister," said Thackeray.

Thackeray's comments indicate that Sena has grasped the BJP plan to prop up Shinde as representing the Shiv Sena. "Shinde is a BJP puppet; they want to use his face and his work in the Sena to isolate our party. We intend to expose this. We will show that Shinde might be claiming that he is from Sena but his interests are not aligned with that of the party or Marathi people," said a Sena insider from the Uddhav camp.

Uddhav said, "Had everything taken place as decided between me and Amit Shah, the change of power would have been graceful and dignified. And I would not have become the chief minister or the MVA would not have been formed. Had Shah kept his word (on rotation of CM's post for 2.5 years each between the Shiv Sena and the BJP), it would have been a great government."
