Don’t berate officers: Supreme Cout to CBI judge
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday asked the coal scam trial judge not to make harsh personal comments against CBI officers while rejecting closure reports in coal scam-related cases, which was investigated by the court-appointed team.

CBI director Ranjit Sinha, through senior advocate Vikas Singh, registered strong dissent against the trial judge's comments questioning the competence of CBI officers who filed closure reports in some cases.

Singh said the comments against Superintendent of Police Nirbhay Kumar, who was one of the finest officers who competently handled the Ghaziabad judiciary PF scam case and Nithari serial killing case, had demoralized him so much that he wanted to recuse from further investigation.

The bench assuaged the feelings of Nirbhay Kumar and asked him and his colleague Rajbir Singh to continue with the case while protecting them from trial court's personal comments.
