Dominic Asquith appointed UK High Commissioner in India

Currently in the corporate sector, Asquith, a career diplomat has served extensively in West Asia and North Africa including being Ambassador in Libya during 2011-12.

NEW DELHI: Senior British diplomat and West Asia veteran Dominic Asquith has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of UK and is expected to take charge later this month.

Currently in the corporate sector, Asquith, a career diplomat has served extensively in West Asia and North Africa including being Ambassador in Libya during 2011-12. Besides he had served earlier as British envoy in Iraq and worked as Deputy Ambassador in Riyadh. Asquith also served as Ambassador in Cairo towards the last few years of former President Hosni Mubarak between 2007-2011.

Earlier in his career Asquith had served as a diplomat in Muscat and Damascus besides in UK missions in Argentina and Washington. He also has extensive experience as journalist and researcher in West Asia during the late 1970s.
