Doctors on strike in Jharkhand

The day-long strike by the contractual doctors association, supported by the Indian Medical Association (Jharkhand) chapter today affected health services at different government hospitals and health centres in Jharkhand.

RANCHI: The day-long strike by the contractual doctors association, supported by the Indian Medical Association (Jharkhand) chapter today affected health services at different government hospitals and health centres in Jharkhand.

Except emergency departments, doctors at various hospitals were on strike. The impact of the strike at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences and Ranchi Sadar hospital was partial, said sources.

The doctors, who are on indefinite leave from Sunday midnight, are demanding regularisation of around six hundred doctors who are on contract.

Soon after their mass leave, the state government had asked the doctors, who are on leave, to rejoin their duties by today (May 31) or face action.
