MUMBAI: As the siege in Mumbai finally came to an end, there were numerous stories from survivors on how they coped with the ordeal.

A doctor couple, Prashant Mangeshikar and his wife Tilottama , for instance, spent ten hours inside Taj and took care of an injured hotel maintenance worker who had shielded them when the terrorists opened fire.

The Mangeshikars later recounted how they had taken shelter in a room, dragging the injured man along with them. We used the napkins kept in the room to stop the flow of blood from his wound, recalled Tilottama Mangeshikar, a consultant anaesthetist and intensivist.

Her husband added that while they were trying to save the mans life, somebody made a phone call to check what kind of department the man belonged to. I was really angry at that. I thought what is he trying to say? He is a human being, his life has to be saved .
