The CBI chargesheet against Kanimozhi is likely to dominate the DMK high-level committee’s meeting.

CHENNAI: The CBI chargesheet against Kanimozhi is likely to dominate the DMK high-level committee’s meeting on Wednesday and hectic discussions are on among top-rung leaders to formulate the party’s stand. With the CBI finally closing in on his own family members , chief minister M Karunanidhi is said to be furious with the Congress for “treating the DMK badly and attempting to tarnish its image” . But despite the initial angry reactions , the party leadership is unlikely to take any harsh stand, says senior leaders.

Soon after the supplementary chargesheet was filed in a special court on Monday, Karunanidhi summoned senior leaders including DMK general secretary K Anbalagan, deputy CM MK Stalin, parliamentary party leader T R Baalu, state ministers Arcot N Veerasamy, Duraimurugan, K Ponmudi, E V Velu and Union ministers S Jagathratchagan and Napoleon to his CIT colony residence to discuss the fallout.

“Thalaivar (leader) was furious ,” a minister, who attended the meeting, told TOI. “The Congress had been violating alliance dharma while the DMK on its part had been making sacrifices for them,” the minister quoted an angry Karunanidhi as saying.
