DMK submits memorandums to Election Commission

CHENNAI: DMK today accused two Tamil Nadu ministers of having wrongfully restrained the general public and for causing law and order problem in Yercaud constituency, when party treasurer M K Stalin was campaigning there.

In two separate memorandums addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner and Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer, DMK's legal wing secretary R S Bharathi narrated two incidents on November 30 and December 2 during Stalin's campaign in Salem district.

On November 30, he alleged that AIADMK minister Mukkoor Subramaniam restrained the general public in a temple and a school at Ponnarampatti of Vazhapadi union and prevented them from attending the election campaign of M K Stalin.

He further sought to direct the police authorities to take action on the complaint filed with them.

On December 2, when M K Stalin was campaigning in Karumanthurai area in the constituency after getting permission, the police had also granted permission for a motorcycle rally with over 100 vehicles crowding the area, he said.

"I request you to issue suitable directions to the police authorities to register the case against the ruling AIADMK minister Mohan, Member of Parliament Lakshmanan, Kallakkurichi AIADMK Union chairman Rajasekar, Vadakkananthal AIADMK chairman Vengatesan and other AIDMK persons," he added.
