CHENNAI: Opposition DMK today slammed the Tamil Nadu Government's budget, saying it was "disappointing" for all sections of society.

No major relief for farmers was forthcoming as they had anticipated something in the wake of drought while the government did not touch the Eelam issue despite a strong students' movement, DMK President M Karunanidhi said in a statement here.

"There is no mention of fishermen, being attacked by Sri Lankan Navy and who are facing so many losses. With prices of essential commodities so high in the state there is no mention of what the government is going to do (to tackle that) and instead they only seem to blame the Centre," he said.

He also said that there was no new announcement for power generation even as government had stayed away from addressing a possible drinking water shortage this year.

"On the whole, the budget has disappointed all sections of society in Tamil Nadu," he said.
