DMK rules out revival of ties with PMK
Shutting the doors firmly on PMK, the DMK in Tamil Nadu has ruled out revival of their ties with the party saying 'the matter is over'.
As DPA ally Dalit Panthers of India (Viduthalai Chirthuthaikal) leader Thol Thirumavalavan made efforts to bring about a rapprochement between the two parties, DMK president M Karunanidhi told the media here last night that the 'matter is over' even if the PMK expressed regrets for alleged threats issued by one of its leaders to DMK leaders.
Reacting sharply to PMK general council resolution that criticised the DMK for snapping ties on a old issue of 'inflammatory' speech made by J Guru in January, Karunanidhi asked whether such a delay would mean that such a speech has not been made at all.
On PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss's charge that his party was shown doors from DMK-led alliance without consulting the alliance partners, Karunanidhi said "it was a decision taken by his party. When we gave a Rajya Sabha seat to that party (for union Health Minister Dr Anbumani) PMK did not ask us to consult other allies."
On Ramadoss's remarks that DMK attempted to attack late Indira Gandhi, during her visit to Tamil Nadu in 1977, he said "these things could be taken only by those who could be easily deceived."
