CHENNAI: Senior DMK leader Durai Murugan today denied reports in a section of media that he had tendered resignation as the party's Deputy General Secretary over differences with party leadership.

When some scribes had contacted him about this yesterday, he said he had categorically denied it and criticised them for carrying such reports despite his clarification.

Murugan said he had grown in the party in a proper way and was leading a content life.

Recalling that he had been a member for the past 50 years, he said that he "was not a mere politician but one who believes in Dravidian politics" and had been following the footsteps of party president M Karunanidhi.

"I condemn the imaginary reports, published despite my denial. DMK will forever be my party, Karunanidhi my leader and Stalin our guide. This is my decision," he said in a statement while assuring that he will never quit the party.

A section of media had reported that Durai Murugan, a former minister, had offered to resign as Deputy General Secretary after his repeated demands for a post for his son in the DMK's Vellore unit were not favourably responded to.
