The BJP on Tuesday attacked the opposition INDIA bloc over DMK leader A Raja's comments about India "not being a nation".

"The INDIA bloc persists in continuously defaming the country. A Raja's statement that 'India is not a nation' reflects his Maoist ideology and unveils the misguided thinking of the Ghamandiya alliance," BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said at a news conference on Tuesday.

BJP's IT cell in-charge Amit Malviya posted the link of Raja's speech on X and said,"The hate speeches from DMK's stable continue unabated. After Udhayanidhi Stalin's call to annihilate Sanatan Dharma, it is now A Raja who calls for the balkanisation of India, derides Bhagwan Ram, makes disparaging comments on Manipuris and questions the idea of India, as a nation."

The Congress condemned the DMK leader's reported comments about Lord Ram and said that one must exercise restraint while speaking. "I disagree 100% with his (Raja's) remarks. I believe Ram belongs to everyone and is all encompassing. I believe that Ram, who was called Imam-e-Hind, is above communities, religions and castes. I condemn it and I think people should be exercising restraint while talking," said AICC spokesperson Supriya Shrinate.
