DMK chief M Karunanidhi takes exception to efforts to promote Hindi in CBI
Karunanidhi said it was "shocking" to note that communication received in Hindi has been asked to be replied in the same language.

Citing reports in a section of the media, he said a recent CBI circular had mandated that Hindi be used in all of its administrative matters, with officials asked to ensure that the language is used in areas, including issuing tenders and reports that will be submitted in Parliament and officers' service records, among others.
He said it was "shocking" to note that communication received in Hindi has been asked to be replied in the same language.
"If this report is true, the Centre, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi, should look at it and take action.
"If CBI which is involved in crime investigation gives priority to Hindi, there will be a situation when other Central departments will follow this precedent," he said.
This would lead to a situation wherein Hindi would dominate all spheres, he said, replying to a set of questions in party mouthpiece 'Murasoli'.
