DMK chief M Karunanidhi greets PM Manmohan Singh on birthday

CHENNAI: DMK chief M Karunanidhi today greeted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who turned 80, saying he was playing a "very important role in finding useful solutions to the problems and challenges facing the country."

"The vast population of agriculturists, labourers, poor and downtrodden are looking up to you for fulfilment of their aspirations. I am sure with your profound wisdom and meaningful experience you will meet their expectations," he said in his birthday greetings to the Prime Minister.

Noting that the country was passing through a critical phase in the history of Parliamentary democracy, Karunanidhi, whose DMK is a key ally of ruling Congress, said "you have been playing a very important role in finding useful solutions to the problems and challenges facing the country."
